Founding SAMSON Bassist Dies After Long Illness - 13/01/07

Former SAMSON bassist and founder member Chris Aylmer passed away last week after a long illness. Chris founded the band with Paul Samson, and not only suggested the band name, but was also responsible for young drummer Clive Burr completing the trio. Chris was in SAMSON from 1977 until 1984, and also played on the 1993 album and tour, and the 1999/2000 shows.
R.I.P.

Sad news.

Samson were the first band I ever saw way back in 1980, supported by Javelin.

They never really got the success or acclaim they deserved.

I vividly remember the excitement of getting their "Head On" album and discovering my free Samson patch nestled inside the sleeve.
They were one of those bands who were on the verge of the big time for a long time without it ever happening for them.
It seems sad that they'll be best remembered as a footnote in the Iron Maiden story.
They really deserve better than that.

Without question or doubt, I am very sorry to read of the young man's passing.

But let's get real here boys. Samson sucked. I mean they sucked real bad. Super bad sucked.

R.I.P. Chris - another who died to young.

I guess you just had to be there to appreciate Samson. I bought the first 4 albums on release and still give them a spin every now and again. Saw the band live quite a few times including Reading 1980 and they were always superb!! The studio output is good rather than great but definetely still worth a listen.

Daysbetween, what's the story with the St Mirren link? It's members only.
I'm a son of the rock myself.
In more ways than one.

Small world eh?
I missed the game this term, but was at the previous years pre-season game.
I forget what the score was, probably my mind blanking out a painful memory.
Didn't you know the weather's always beautiful here?
